As software-defined vehicles become more complex, the industry needs common virtual device interfaces for faster development cycles and more reusable software assets. This keynote highlights recent progress around VirtIO as a key enabler of open-source-based virtualization for automotive systems. The presentation will cover industry momentum behind VirtIO, AGL’s ongoing expansion of VirtIO device support, and contributions around Unified HMI and the AGL SDV reference platform SoDeV. It will also discuss the next step: extending virtualization beyond in-vehicle platforms by linking cloud-native development with simulated models and external systems, opening new possibilities for scalable SDV engineering and ecosystem collaboration.
